The Cloud 100: Who hasn't had layoffs?

The Cloud 100 is an annual ranking of the top private / SaaS cloud companies in the world. The list is compiled by Forbes in partnership with Bessemer Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures. The Cloud 100 companies are selected based on a variety of factors, including revenue growth, market share, and leadership.

How many of these had layoffs? According to our analysis using data from WARN records and Layoffs.fyi, about 50%. 48 of the 2022 Cloud 100 companies had layoffs, while 52 have not.
 
Among the most notable companies that have not done layoffs as of time of writing (Feb 20, 2023)
  • DataBricks, with 4000+ employees, ranked #2 on the cloud 100 list
  • Canva, with 3000+ employees, ranked #3 on the Cloud 100 list
  • Figma, with 750+ employees, ranked #5 on the cloud 100 list
 
 

Geography

Another interesting slice of this data: how are companies across different metro areas affected by layoffs?
  • 48% (22 out of 46) Bay Area companies have had layoffs
  • 38% (5 out of 13) New York companies have had layoffs
  • 100% (4 out of 4) Seattle companies have had layoffs
  • 20% (1 out of 5) Remote companies have had layoffs
